Properly Shipped LLC is a freight broker, not a carrier. We arrange vehicle transportation through motor carriers. The carrier assigned to your shipment performs the pickup, transport, and delivery.

Where vehicles come from

Pickups from auctions, lots, and sellers.

Every facility has its own procedures. Telling us where the vehicle is helps set realistic expectations early.

01 / PICKUP

Copart and IAA yards

Buyers often need a vehicle moved from a Copart or IAA location after a purchase. These are named as common pickup examples only; mentioning them does not imply any affiliation, partnership, or endorsement.

02 / PICKUP

Other vehicle auctions

Public, dealer-only, and regional auctions each set their own release rules, hours, and pickup procedures. Share the auction name and yard address so those details can be reviewed.

03 / PICKUP

Dealerships

Vehicles bought from a dealership in another state can be picked up from the lot once the dealer confirms the vehicle is ready to release.

04 / PICKUP

Online marketplaces

Purchases made through online marketplaces may sit with a private seller, a consignment lot, or a storage facility. Pickup arrangements depend on who holds the vehicle.

Requesting a pickup

What to have ready.

The more complete your details, the more useful the first reply can be.

  • VIN, lot or stock number, and the buyer name on the purchase
  • Year, make, and model of the vehicle
  • Pickup location address (yard, lot, or seller) and the delivery ZIP code
  • Whether the vehicle is paid for and ready for release
  • Known condition: whether it runs, rolls, steers, and brakes, and whether keys are available
  • Any pickup deadline, appointment requirement, or storage charge start date you have been given
01

Send the purchase details

Use the inquiry form to share the VIN, lot number, buyer name, pickup location, delivery ZIP, and what you know about the vehicle’s condition.

02

Confirm release requirements with the seller

Payment, release documents, gate passes, and transporter authorization vary by auction and seller. Confirm what applies to your purchase directly with them.

03

Review transport options

We talk through carrier and equipment availability for your route and vehicle condition, then arrange transport through a motor carrier once you decide to proceed.

04

Coordinate pickup and delivery

Pickup timing depends on carrier availability and the facility’s rules. Stay reachable so pickup and delivery details can be confirmed.

Vehicle condition

Operable or inoperable.

Condition affects which carriers and equipment can handle the move. Accurate details avoid surprises at pickup.

Runs and drives

Operable vehicles

A vehicle that starts, drives, steers, and brakes can generally be loaded under its own power. Keys should be available at pickup.

Availability still depends on carriers serving the route and timing.

Does not run

Inoperable vehicles

Transport for non-running vehicles is subject to carrier, equipment, and pickup location availability. Please disclose whether it rolls, steers, and brakes, whether keys are present, and any access issues such as flat tires or tight lot space.

Forklift, winch, or other special equipment cannot be promised and must be confirmed for each shipment.

Timing & delivery

Plan around deadlines.

Many auctions and storage yards set pickup deadlines, require appointments, or begin charging storage fees after a set number of days. Those rules come from the facility, so check them right after your purchase.

Reaching out early gives the most time to find a suitable carrier, but no pickup date can be guaranteed. Carrier availability, route, weather, and facility hours all affect timing.

For delivery, make sure the address is accessible to a transport truck and that a contact person is reachable to coordinate arrival. If the street is narrow or restricted, a nearby meeting spot may be discussed.

At delivery, inspect the vehicle’s condition with the driver and note anything on the paperwork before signing.

Auction shipping questions

Good to know.

Have a different question? Include it in your inquiry and a person will reply by email.

Is Properly Shipped the company that physically moves my vehicle?

No. Properly Shipped LLC is a freight broker. We arrange transportation through motor carriers; the carrier performs the pickup, transport, and delivery.

Are you affiliated with Copart or IAA?

No. Copart and IAA are mentioned only as examples of places vehicles are commonly picked up from. References to any auction do not imply affiliation.

What documents does the carrier need at the auction?

It depends on the auction and seller. Some facilities require specific release forms, gate passes, or authorization for a transporter, and others work differently. Please confirm the requirements for your purchase with the seller.

Can you guarantee pickup before storage charges begin?

No pickup date can be guaranteed. Scheduling early gives the most room to work with, but timing depends on carrier availability, facility hours, and appointments. Any storage charges are set by the facility.

Can a non-running vehicle be shipped?

Often, yes, but it depends on carrier and equipment availability and what the pickup location can provide. Disclose rolling, steering, braking, key, and access issues up front. Special equipment cannot be promised.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes. Inquiries are answered by a person, not AI or a chatbot. Contact is by email through the inquiry form.
